“Being elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, Vietnam accepts a range of responsibilities that other members of the United nations do not have, this represents the trust that other nations put in Vietnam to carry out those functions that affect the security of the whole world”

This will lead to co-operation as well as competition between them. The real challenges in the region will be in social and environmental issues and Vietnam is well situated to show leadership both in ideas and action in these areas.”
