China becomes Japan’s biggest export market

Tokyo (VNA) - China displaced the US as the biggest importer of goods from Japan for the first time ever since World War II ended.

Japan’s exports to China were up 16.8 percent to 1.286 trillion yen (about 12 billion USD) in July, according to statistics from the Japanese Finance Government announced on August 21. The figure marked the 38 th consecutive month of increase.

 Meanwhile Japan’s exports to the US fell 11.5 percent due to impacts from the credit crisis in the US .

Overall Japanese exports climbed 8.1 percent in July to 7.63 trillion yen (about 72.6 billion USD), while imports jumped 18.2 percent to 7.54 trillion yen (71.8 billion USD).

However, Japan's trade surplus declined 86.6 percent in July to 91.1 billion yen (830 million USD) due to oil high price, which affected cost for energy import.-Enditem
